Know the Causes of Bad Breath
and
How to Cure Halitosis for good.

Someone in my family has halitosis. Not wanting to look at the causes of his bad breath, those around him have to suffer and my concern is that it can develop into serious health problems in the future if not addressed early enough.

The person with halitosis is not necessarily aware of it and the topic is difficult to bring up without feelings of embarrassment to both parties, therefore the problem can easily continue to surface.

How do I know if I have bad breath?

If you notice that people tend to step away from you when you speak, turn their heads or cover their mouths, then bad breath may be a problem.

One of the signs of bad breath is an unpleasant or bitter taste in the mouth. You can also check the smell of your saliva by licking the skin on your wrist and then smelling it. If it has an offensive odor, then the chances are that your breath is not as sweet as you would like it to be!

The best way to find out is to ask someone who you can trust to tell you the truth. When you accept that there is a problem then curing bad breath becomes easy.

Causes of Bad Breath.

A lack of proper oral hygiene is often associated with halitosis. But there can be underlying reasons, which may be difficult to overcome, despite all efforts to follow a healthy mouth and teeth cleaning routine. This can result in great distress, problems with relationships and difficulties in the workplace. Causes of bad breath could be:

  • Poor oral hygiene
  • Gum disease (spongy gums, gingivitis, gum boils)
  • Odor causing bacteria in the mouth and digestive tract
  • Candidiasis
  • Chronic sinus infection
  • Certain medications (causing dry mouth)
  • Smoking
  • Foods (garlic, onions, anchovies, high protein diet)
  • Poor digestion
  • Liver or kidney malfunction
  • Constipation

    Personal Responsibility.

So what can be done about causes of bad breath? First of all, each and every person has a responsibility to take good care of their teeth and perform good oral hygiene that will help prevent multiplication of bacteria in their mouth.

People who know that they have a problem with foul breath should recognize the fact and take care of the problem to the best of their ability. If they can not handle the problem on their own they should seek professional help of a doctor.

Inform the Person who has Halitosis.

When you're faced with speaking or dealing with someone who has bad breath it is important to address the situation rather than get away from it. Sometimes a person has a medical problems that are the causes of bad breath and he or she is completely unaware of the odor in the mouth or the reason for it. By telling someone they have bad breath you can be saving another person’s life. Even though this may be a difficult conversation to initiate, it is important.

One easy way to address the situation is to offer the person a piece of gum or a mint and gently tell them that they may need to see a physician to discover what their problem is. Or you can bring up the subject of causes of bad breath and talk about their seriousness and then offer the mint or gum. This should help most people understand they have a problem. Some people will require a very direct statement telling them they have bad breath and need to do something about it. Although this is a hard thing to do it is something that needs to be done.

    Drink More Water!

The number one cause of bad breath, outside of neglecting to properly brush and floss teeth is a dry mouth. If you do not drink enough water, chances are that your bad breath is due to the lack of moisture in your mouth. It is important to drink enough water for many reasons and bad breath is one of them.

If you can not fathom lifting a glass of water to your lips, try eating more fruit. Fruit is packed with water and a good way to get extra water in the body. Eating fruit also encourages an alkaline internal environment, which is healthier than over-acidity.

If you start your day by squeezing half a lemon into a glass of water and drink it half hour before intake of anything else you give your digestion a good alkaline signal. Even better, to have a day of fasting every ten days with lemon juice and water can work miracles in cleansing the digestive tract.

    Change the Way You Eat.

If you eat a lot of meat and very little fresh fruits and vegetables, that could be a cause of your bad breath. Eating more fresh foods and less protein is in itself a bad breath remedy that really works for many people, especially those who already brush and floss on a regular basis and do not seem to have a problem drinking enough water or getting enough moisture into the body.

Let go of the steak and have a salad. It is a bad breath remedy, and one that works. Just try it and see. To cure bad breath is easier than you think.

Have you ever noticed that when visiting Indian restaurants there is often a small dish of medicinal seeds beside the cash register for the customers as they leave after a meal. Many herbal seeds and leaves have breath refreshing properties. Best known are fenugreek and fennel, which can be eaten raw, sprouted or cooked. Parsley, peppermint, rosemary and sage leaves are helpful as well.

    Bad Breath Remedies.

HaliTonic, a 100% natural remedy, is not just another cure for bad breath, but it encourages system cleansing and detoxifying properties of the body and promotes healthy liver functioning – thereby assisting not only in maintaining health and freshness in the mouth, throat and gums, but also throughout the body.
