Work Stress Relief!

Holding a Positive Focus is a Form of Meditation.

In a healthy life we practice Energy or Chi Meditation naturally.

Quiet and happy moments were meditative during our childhood. And we exercised continuously - we literally had to live and move in our 'Endless Ocean of Creativity' in order to learn and test our capacities.

What about later? I am often asked about meditation and teens - and stress. Would Chi Meditation benefit their lives?

Let us think of a teenager in her/his natural state – dreaming about a glorious future! (At least that's what my granddaughter does!).

Can you remember what you thought about your future? Most of us have had dreams about helping change the world for the better.

While recalling those memories you may realize that you were then at peace with quiet happiness and a sense of hope and benevolence and love.

Those moments were a form of Chi Meditation - you were thinking about something valuable, something that came from your inner self. This is easy when holding high ideals that seem more real than the objects we see in front of us.

This kind of reflection is Chi Meditation - Chi flows naturally. Afterwards we feel refreshed and communication with others is relaxed and positive. The following instructions can be of further help.

If you have been sitting for a long time, walk around and gently shake yourself. This releases the worst effects of stress and will expand your breath.

Back in your chair, sit comfortably with your back straight. To improve the spinal Chi flow you may roll a towel and place it along the spine.

Hands on your lap, feel the bottoms of your feet connecting to the floor. (If you can not sit for some reason, lie on your back or take any other comfortable position).

Please read the entire Tao Script before beginning the basic meditation exercises followed by Chi Meditation.

1. Lift up your shoulders then let them drop as you breath out through your mouth. Do this three times.

2. Circle your head slowly and gently each way three times.

3. To loosen the shoulders, neck and back, do the following 'Spinal Cord Breathing' - each sequence three times.
Basic Meditation Exercise - inbreath.

4. Your fingers pointing to the ceiling, breathe in as you spread your arms backwards and arch your spine forward.

Breathe out as you bring the elbows close to each other and arch your spine backwards.

Basic Meditation Exercise - outbreath

5. Lower the arms to rest - Let your shoulders relax.

6. Fix your eyes on an object in front of you – a cursor on the computer screen or something else in your environment.

Stay with this focus as you take three long breaths - in through the nose and out through the mouth.

7. Breathing normally, your eyes still fixed - or closed if you like, direct your inner focus to the top of your head (Baihui chakra).

Stay this way for five to seven minutes.

The mind wanders, but you can improve the meditation by thinking of someone you love, of something beautiful and valuable to you - of the Almighty One (using the name right for you), or just feeling thankful - anything that might inspire you. Bring this thought to the inner focus point Baihui.

Bring the focus back to Baihui when the mind wanders (even if there is noise around you, don't struggle, just bring the focus back to Baihui).

When finished, fix your eyes on the outside focus point and take three long breaths - in through the nose and out through the mouth. Feel grounded here and now.

Evaluate how you feel now. Did the Chi Meditation help?
